School Overview

Cloverdale Education Support Centre caters for students with special needs. It is situated on the Cloverdale Primary School campus which is located in the City of Belmont. Belmont is an inner metropolitan suburb situated 15km from the city centre. Students enrol from Cloverdale, Belmont, Kewdale, Riverton and Redcliffe. A school bus transports students who do not live within walking distance.

Cloverdale ESC was established in 1988 and moved into new facilities when Cloverdale and Whiteside primary schools amalgamated in 1998.

Cloverdale ESC has well appointed facilities with five classrooms located in different teaching blocks throughout the school campus. All classrooms are air conditioned with teachers using a wide variety of technology in curriculum delivery. All classes have interactive white boards. Students use iPads as will as computers. The Centre has a Therapy Room and a fully equipped kitchen. Cloverdale ESC shares a library, computer laboratory, music room, staff room, conference room, canteen and playground areas with the primary school.

Cloverdale ESCs principal and a registrar's offices are located in the shared reception area in the Administration Block. Each class has a teacher and several full time assistants. We utilize the services of a school nurse, an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, school chaplain, and school psychologist. Speech therapists and occupational therapists from Therapy Focus offer individual support.

Cloverdale ESC's behaviour management program is based Positive Behaviour Support principles. We incorporate values education into the day to day curriculum, and work closely with the Cloverdale Primary School in the implementation of Values education strategies.

Cloverdale ESC is an inclusive school which welcomes all students and shows respect for all cultures and religions. Students integrate with the Cloverdale primary school students in the playground and in selected classroom activities. The schools have a combined P&C and provide pastoral care through the breakfast program, parent support group and anti-bullying committee. Joint activities include the swimming carnival, sports day, after school sports program and Year 7 graduation.

ESC students have the opportunity to participate in additional school activities, with two of the Year seven school councillors being appointed from the Educational Support Centre.
