Hello Everyone
We are half way through the last term of 2019 and we are well on the way to finalising the class lists for next year. These will be ready to go out with the reports at the end of week 8.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Assembly on Friday. The students did a great job performing their song. A reminder that we have our end of year assembly on Thursday 12th December with the Primary School. This will be followed by our end of year Morning tea. It would be lovely to see you all there. We also have our Presentation Assembly on Tuesday 17th December at 9.00am and Graduation Assembly on Wednesday 11th December at 9.30am.
On Friday 8th November Yellow Class ran Trash and Treasure to raise money for the Leadership and Graduation Activities. They raised almost $700 which is a brilliant amount, so thank you to Ms Harris, her team and her students for a wonderful effort.
Last week we also had the School Board meeting. At this meeting the Board approved the purchase of bucket hats for all students in the new school colours. A letter will be coming home very soon for you to select your child’s hat size. These hats will be available for purchase from the uniform store, but we will be supplying every student in our school with a hat initially.
At the board meeting we also had two of our members step down, so we have two positions available on the school board. If you are interested in joining, a letter asking for nominations will be sent home in the next week or so.
On Friday we had the Annual WAESPAA Awards Night and I am very proud to say that Cloverdale Education Support Centre made the top four schools. We were visited by the judges last week and sadly didn’t win but it was still an amazing achievement. A huge thank you to our wonderful staff who made it possible.
For Remembrance Day, the Aqua Room prepared a wreath and each student created a poppy. On Remembrance Day, we learned in the First World War poppies grew from war-torn soil in Western Europe. We observed a minute’s silence on the day and then had a small ceremony, planting the poppies around the tree outside of the classroom. The students were respectful and engaged in the Remembrance Day activities, well done team!!
This term has been full of fun and excitement and there is still plenty more to come at the end of this term with Adventure Week coming in week 8.
Swimming
All the kids in Orange class did a fantastic job to practice their swimming skills at the beginning of term 4. Everyone tried their very best during swimming and listened to the instructor conducting the lesson. Well done Orange class.
Maths
During Maths, we have been using board games and hands-on materials to learn about counting numbers and adding on. We roll a dice and look at the correct number of dots on the dice and add the same amount of blocks to our boards. We are fantastic at counting!!
Art
This term we have been keeping up with the tradition of painting a NAIDOC tiled art, which has been going for 2 years. The kids thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the making and having the idea of it being displayed in our school yard was very exciting for them all.
We have been having a great Semester Two in Blue Class. We learnt all about Fairy Tales last term, our favorites were The Gingerbread Man and The Three Little Pigs. We also made some ‘sensory stories’ and loved listening and experiencing the textures, smells and sounds that matched the books.
We had fantastic time at swimming and all showed we could be responsible and respectful around a pool and in the community. So many of us passed our swimming levels or had a great time trying. We learnt to float, blow bubbles, glide and put our head under the water.
This term we have been developing our math skills through ‘Paul Swan Number Games’. We have had so much fun learning about numbers with spinners, puppets, dice and dominos! Our math skills have improved too!
All the students have improved so much this year and the classroom staff will be very sad to say goodbye to all the wonderful Blue team children.
