Hello Everyone
Welcome to Term 4! In eight weeks it will be the end of the year and our long summer holidays but we have a lot of do in between. The last two weeks have been amazing watching all the students take part in swimming lessons. They were a huge credit to the school and every single one of them tried their hardest. The swimming certificates will be handed out at our next full assembly which will be on Friday 15th November. This assembly will also be Pink, Green and Blue classes assembly item. So please come along and watch our assembly and join us for morning tea in the TB1 wet area afterwards.
Last Tuesday many of you attended the Carers WA and Lottery Wests morning tea which was organised by Heather Dillon. A huge thank you to Heather and her team for putting together a great morning and such wonderful gift bags – I was very envious of the seated massage! Hon Cassie Rowe MLC also came to join us at the morning tea and made a very generous donation towards it.
One Thursday myself, Lauren Harris and two of our Counsellors Ty and Ezekiel will be Cassie’s guests at a dinner at Parliament House. We are going with the Counsellors and Faction Captains from the Primary School. This will be with the second year we have gone to Parliament House and it is a wonderful experience for our Counsellors.
A reminder that next Friday 8th November is the Trash and Treasure, so if you have any preloved toys, books, DVD at home please send them in and on the day all our students will get an opportunity to buy something if you wish.
Next week a letter will be coming home about our Adventure Week please keep an eye out for it – it’s going to be a full on week with lots of fun. Our big day will be Tuesday 3rd December it is the International Day of Disability you are invited to join us for assembly, then lunch later that day and to stay for the afternoon when we will have integrated football, different emergency services, food trucks and the canteen will be open and other fun activities going on. There will also be a sausage sizzle for all the students.
The school board will be meeting next Wednesday and we will be making our final decision about the school uniform. If you haven’t already completed your survey please either see Vicky Johnson in the school office or myself before next Tuesday 5th November.
Over the next few weeks we will be finalising the class lists and these will be available in week 8 when you meet with your child’s teacher to talk about the reports. If you have a particular preference for your child’s placement next year and you haven’t already informed your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible.
Finally, a couple of dates for your diary. It's casual clothes day on Thursday 28th November, Friday 29th November is a school development day so students do not come to school. It is our end of year assembly on Thursday 12th December with Music Rocks performing, this is followed by our end of year morning tea. The final presentation assembly will be in Tuesday 17th December.
For Sports Day, we all ran a race and then we joined the Kindergarteners next dood, to play some tabloid sposrts games. We had an obstacle course, egg and spoon race, sack races and bean bag throwing races., It was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time.
We had a fabulous time participating in the “Colour Run Day”. We completed an obstacle course with people “dusting us” with chalk. It got super messy when some of the teachers squirted us with water, which then mixed with the chalk! Our school did a great job at raising money towards the year 5/6 leadership. Go us!
This term is already gearing up to be super busy. Can you believe it is Term 4 already?! Our swimming program has been met with a lot of enthusiasm. We are super proud of the way our students have behaved during lessons. There are a lot of us in a small area, so listening to our teachers can be a little challenging with so many voices giving instructions. Thank you to parents who make sure we are ready with the right equipment each day.
We have had a great time learning in the Green Room this year and can’t believe that we are already in term 4!
This year we have had a lot of fun and have participated in some awesome whole school activities with the primary school such as our sports carnival! We had an amazing time and loved being able to have our parents come down and watch us participate.
Every Thursday and Friday afternoon we participate in play activities with Blue and Pink room. We have really enjoyed getting to know other friends in the Early Years. We have done imaginative play, STEM activities and Sensory Rotations.
It has been a wonderful year in the green room and we have lots of exciting activities coming up this term! A huge thanks to our awesome parents for helping us out throughout the year, your ongoing support has made our year in the green room even better!
Miss White and the Green Team!
