Hello All
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed the time you had with your children. It has been a good first week back and it was so nice to see so many smiling faces on day one of term.
Over the holiday there have been some staffing changes. As many of you will know Shantelle Williams, who was the teacher in Orange room, left us very suddenly at the end of last term to take up a position in another school. We did think that we had managed to secure a new teacher for the room at the end of term, but he accepted a permanent position in a remote school up North. I am very happy to say that we have now secured a lovely new Teacher for the room, Silvia Varonne. Silvia had been doing teaching relief for us, so is known to some of the children already. We also have Bonnie Harris who is working for us on a Thursday and Friday in a specialist teacher role. We are very happy to have both of them on board. We have quite a few new Education Assistants working for us: Amanda House joined us half way through term 1 in Gold Room, Elaine Altizo who is working in Pink Room, Hansa Satasiya in Orange Room and Renee Murray in Green Room. We welcome them all to Cloverdale.
This is a very long term being 11 weeks long, but we have lots of things happening. On Friday, 7th April, it will be our Mother’s Day celebration. More details will be coming out very shortly, but we will be looking at having a celebratory morning tea after our centre assembly.
We will also be taking all the children on an excursion (restrictions allowing) in week 11. A letter will be coming home in the next week or so with the details.
We have school photos on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th May.
We have seen an increase in the number of cars parked in the two ACROD spaces outside of Pink Room. I do understand that parking at drop off and pick up is very hard. But please, can I ask, if you do not have an ACROD sticker that you do not park in these spaces.
Finally, from me, I am also very excited to announce that we have a new program starting called The Fathering Project. This is designed to get more Dad, Grandads, Uncles and Father figures involved in school. We will be starting with Pizza and Paper Planes Night on Friday 28th May from 5-7pm. This will be followed up by the official launch on Thursday, 10th June. It would be lovely to get as many Dads, Grandads, Uncles and Father figures as we can to the Pizza and Paper Planes night, this will be a free event and you do not need to commit to anything so please, put it into your diary. There will be an invite coming from all the children very soon.
Kind Regards
Debi Taylor
