Dear parents and carers,
It’s amazing to think we have already reached the end of Term 1. Although it has been a very short term a lot has happened. It is lovely to see how well all the children have settled into their new classes and how much learning they have squeezed into a very short space of time. It has also been lovely to get to know our thirteen new students and their families.
The Middle Primary classes had their assembly on Friday. Thank you to all the parent who went to such efforts to make costumes. I think all the children did very well learning their dances! The Early Years classes will start off the assemblies next term on Friday, 7th May at 9:00am. The senior classes will have their second assembly on Friday, 28th May and the Middle years will have their second assembly on Friday, 11th June. All the details are in the term planner with this newsletter.
Just a reminder that there will be an Easter Hat parade on Thursday this week. More details will be sent out on See Saw. There is also an Easter raffle being held by the P&C so watch out for information about that!
We have a couple of staffing changes happening next term. Ms Belinda Chan is going on long service leave for Thursdays and Fridays for the whole term and Mr West Marshall will be coming in to replace her. We welcome him on board. We have also taken on a few new Education Assistants this term and we will be running a recruitment process to hopefully make them part of our Team.
Last week the School Board took part in School Board Training – part of their role is to act as a liaison between you and the school, particularly when it comes to whole school changes and decisions. The Parent reps for our school board are Bianca Landis (Mason’s Mum) Angelo Forte (Amber’s Dad), Chantelle McCarthy (Sam’s Mum) and Philippa McNeish (Genesis’ Mum). Please feel free to talk to them about any school issue that might be worrying you or if there is something you would like to get involved in.
They will be running a getting to know you get together at the Tomato Lake Café on Tuesday a flier will be coming out very soon. Put it in your diaries and come and meet the Board and other parents from the school.
Next term will be a very long term with 11 weeks, so I hope you all have a wonderful two weeks’ holiday and we will see all the students back in school on Tuesday, 20th April.

This term Purple room has been learning about our similarities and differences in the lead up to celebrating Harmony Week. We read the story “The Other Bears” by Michael Thompson and wrote messages of how to be a good friend to add to our friendship tree.
Even though we were born in Australia, we found out that our families have come from many different countries, such as Albania, Malta, The Netherlands, England, Iran, Italy, Cambodia, USA and New Zealand.
In Science, we have been learning about the life cycle of a plant. We have observed the process of germination by growing our own bean seeds. We learned why bees are important by making our own native bee puppets to show how bees pollinate flowers to produce the fruit that we like to eat.
This year, Yellow Room have been integrating with the other Senior classes for Spelling. We have welcomed Montana and Eli into our class, as they are super spellers as well! Tyler and Rob join Purple Room and have lots of fun in Miss Tan’s room in their Phase 3 and Words Their Way Spelling groups. In Yellow Room we have Phase 2, Phase 3 and Letters and Sounds groups. We’re so excited to level up and improve our spelling skills, so we are going to work very hard!
What a fantastic start to the year we have had in Silver Room. The students have enjoyed a variety of STEM challenges, the favourite being out boat races in a paddling pool. We have budding authors in our class – and it has been awesome seeing a range of adventure stories been written and shared among friends. Our ‘Ghostbusters’ assembly item was a highlight, and it has been fantastic seeing the students dancing skills improve through our daily dance sessions!
We can’t wait for next term!
To the families of Cloverdale Primary schools, we are seeking donations of prizes for the Easter Raffle. Could you please hand in any donations to the front office by Wednesday. The raffle will be drawn Thursday afternoon after the Easter hat parade. Remember the more donations the more prizes!
Thankyou
