Hello Everyone,
It has been a very busy start back to Term 4 with Book Week and Faction Carnival and now swimming and the year 5 leadership activity day. I know Term 4 is always a little hectic but the start of this one seems even more so.
I want to thank you all for the efforts you put into your child's costume for the book week parade. They all looked wonderful and some of you really out did yourselves. A special mention to Izaiyah’s family for his spectacular tree and to Summer's family who came dressed up as well! There are a few pictures below from the day. Many thanks to Marion Knuiman for her wonderful organisation and judging on the day (not an easy task). Thank you also to Cassie Rowe and Vicky Johnson who also helped with the judging.
I think the Faction Carnival was a big success and thank you to all of you who came and observed the COVID19 restrictions so well. It was great to see the sportsmanship and efforts from all our students. A huge thank you to Matt McMillan and Shane Higgs for their amazing organisation in a very quick timeframe and under very unusual circumstances.
On Thursday last week Sandy McNeill, Peta Cunningham, Jinane Haouchar and I went to the final day of the No Tosh Incubator. This is a whole school improvement process we have been involved in since the beginning of the year. We now have a Values Document which will form the basis of our School Improvement Plan and our three-year Business Plan. When we have the final version we will be sending home a copy to you so you can see what we will be focusing on for the next three years.
We had some very exciting news during the first week back! We have been given a new transportable classroom and it is scheduled in the summer holidays, so in theory, it should be in for the beginning of Term 1 next year. Although I have been reliably informed the one at Carlisle Primary School was 3 months late so we will have a plan B just in case it isn’t ready. It may mean that we will be running nine classes next year.
Over the next two weeks I will be working on the class list for 2021. If you are thinking of moving your child to another school or have a particular request where your child should be or who they should be with please message me on class dojo as soon as possible.
Finally, there are a couple of other things that will be happening this term. We are hoping to run a family afternoon on Thursday, 26th November. This will incorporate the NAIDOC and Harmony celebrations and to make up a little for the lack of being able to celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day this year. More details will follow soon. Also, we are working on how we will be able to run presentation Assembly and our end of year Assembly if Phase 4 remains which all indications show it will be. As soon as I have details of these I will let you know. We have pencilled in Thursday, December 10th for our end of year assembly and Tuesday, 15th December for the presentation assembly.
My next newsletter note will hopefully have a lot more details.

In Geography this semester, we have been learning about place. We began by looking at our favorite places around school then explored the wider community and our country. We located Australia on a World Map and discussed different countries on planet Earth. In Art we created paper mache planets that are now part of our Space themed play area. This term we will continuing learning about place and have begun work on our very own rocket ship.
This week we celebrated Book Week, Curious Creature and Wild Minds. We participated in the Book Week Parade showing off our amazing costumes as we walked around the oval. During the week had fun reading different stories about Australian animals and creating our own habitat for a crocodile using different materials we found in the nature playground.
It’s hard to believe that we are in Term 4 already! We have had a fantastic start to Term 4 in the Pink Room. We have two new Kindy friends in Pink room and would like to welcome Ryan and Emaan to our class. Week 1 and 2 have been packed full of fun activities such as our Athletics Carnival and our Book Week Parade. Pink room students have been able to participate in painting a mural for NAIDOC Day – this is a joint activity We’ve also had our Art Work that we completed in Specialist Lessons with Mrs Rigby on display in a special Art Exhibition. Since coming back to school, students have been working hard on achieving all of their learning goals. We can’t wait for the Pre-Primary students to start swimming and to continue to see the amazing things our class achieve together!
