Kaya,
It is the end of Term 3 and I know how much everyone in school is looking forward to their break. It has been a very full, if slightly tricky term with one thing and another, but it has been lovely to see how much all the students have grown and developed.
I have seen the preparation for the Upper School assembly tomorrow, a lot of effort, from a lot of staff has gone into preparing the props and things for the classes item. If your child is in Aqua, Purple, Yellow or Silver and you have not let your child’s teacher know that you are attending please do so today(Thursday), as you know we have to make sure we have the 1.5m spacing per adult as we are under the phase 4 restrictions still.
Attached with the newsletter is the Term 4 planner. A lot of school events have TBC To be Confirmed) against them. Graduation will happen and so will the ESC end of year assembly and presentation assembly, we just do not know what that will look like at the moment. Also we are hoping to hold the faction carnival on the Friday of week 2, but again this might need to look differently than previous years. As soon as we are able to, we will let you know which events are able to go ahead and how they will be run. Swimming is definitely happening in weeks 3 and 4. You will already have received a letter about this. Please can you get the forms back to school by Friday at the very latest.
Next term starts on Monday, 12th October as we do not have a school development day. Our school development day will be Friday, 27th November. My aim as always is to be able to get the new class lists out with the reports in week 9 of Term 4. If you have a specific request around your child’s placement please can you let me know by the end of week 3, 30th October.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and is able to enjoy the wonderful weather we are having at the moment.
Keep well and safe
Debi
We have had a fantastic term in Purple Room. We have shown amazing progress in both our spelling and reading levels and have also enjoyed learning about reading clocks, sustainability and even gardening!
Purple students put on their performance shoes this term and had a great time acting, learning dialogue, dance moves, designing costumes and coming up with props for our end of term showcase. We think it turned out amazing!
Kindness and respect has been a big focus this term. Our students have become bucket fillers! After reading the story ‘Have you been a bucket filler today?’ we learnt that everyone carries around an invisible bucket that can be filled when we show kindness, friendliness and have positive attitudes. We are all trying our best to not be bucket dippers and to not have an empty bucket. The kids have been doing such a great job – and Purple Room’s buckets are overflowing!
We can’t wait for Term 4

Wow, what a term it’s been! Yellow class have been so busy learning how to be leaders and role models, not only in our own class but amongst the school. Our student councillors have been integrating with the mainstream to learn about different attributes leaders have. We have also started Buddy class with the younger students in Purple Room. We have lots of fun on Fridays doing Buddy reading in the Library and weeding the gardens.
We have all made such amazing progress with our Spelling and Reading this term. We love our Letters and Sounds lessons where we learn two new sounds every week and learn how to read and spell words containing these sounds. This term we have been learning about our families in History and how our lives and family structures are different to how our grandparents’ were. It’s so interesting watching videos from the past and seeing how life was back then! We have all made such amazing progress. We’re super dooper smart!
